How much soda do you drink?
If you stock up on soda every time you hit the grocery, or you’re a frequent flyer who packs a refill mug when you leave the house, you may be drinking a lot of soda.
The average adult drinks about 39 gallons of soda a year, according to recent data. That’s equivalent to chugging 312 16-ounce sodas.
If you favor diet soda over the sugary version, you’re not chugging all those empty calories and added sugar.
But if you fill up your cup at a restaurant, quickie-mart, or cafeteria, you may be gulping down a little more than artificial sweetener.
Stop drinking soda: 2 disgusting reasons to give it up
In a recent study published in the International Journal of Food Microbiology, researchers took 90 soda samples from fountain drink machines at 30 different restaurants.
There were TWO things that kept showing up in lab results. Take a big gulp…it’s gross.
The results: 48 percent of the samples contained trace amounts of FECAL MATTER and BACTERIA…enough to make you sick.
So where did all those germs come from?
Researchers think poor personal hygiene and dirty hands touching the machines are probably to blame.
